Common Bullfinch
The bullfinch has a powerful beak, well equipped to deal with a wide range of seeds. On bird feeders they often prefer sunflower seeds. If you present such food, you have a fair chance of bullfinch visits.
While males have a bright, crimson-red throat and belly, the female sports a brownish-grey underside. Both sexes have black caps.
Female bullfinches have first option on bird feeders, and will often aggressively drive away males, and other bird species as well.
